Purpose and Background

Shelter is one of the most basic needs of human life. Many poor families live without proper homes, in unsafeshelters, slums, or disaster-affected areas. The Foundation will work to support deserving families who do nothave proper housing.A safe home gives a family dignity, protection, privacy, health, and stability. Without shelter, children cannotstudy properly, women and elderly people remain unsafe, and families face disease, insecurity, andhumiliation. Floods, poverty, disability, widowhood, unemployment, and displacement can leave familieswithout even a basic roof. The Foundation will develop a housing support program for deserving families, especially widows, orphans, elderly people, disabled persons, disaster-affected families, and families with special needs. The model mayinclude donor-sponsored homes, low-cost construction, repair support, and advocacy for housing rights.

A picture may show a poor family receiving keys to a newly built home. Another image may show volunteers helping with
construction or renovation of a small house in a village or slum area.
